The Area — Things to Do Near Crystal River, FL

Crystal River isn't just a place to stay — it's a place to do. Here's what's waiting just minutes from your dock.

🐾 Swim with the Manatees

Crystal River is the Manatee Capital of the World — and one of the only places on Earth where you can legally swim alongside these gentle giants in the wild. Each winter, hundreds migrate into the warm spring-fed waters of Kings Bay. Peak season runs roughly mid-November through March, with Three Sisters Springs — the area's crown jewel within the Crystal River National Wildlife Refuge — as the star attraction. Its boardwalk and trails are open year-round, so there's beauty here in every season.

🥽 Go Scalloping (Summer's Best Day on the Water)

From July 1 through late September, the grass flats off Crystal River fill with bay scallops — and with your private dock, you're set up perfectly to launch, dive, and come home with dinner. Snorkel the shallow, clear water, scoop scallops by hand, and cap the day with a fresh-scallop feast in the kitchen. It's the tradition this home is named for.

🎣 World-Class Fishing

The Nature Coast is an angler's paradise. Cast the flats and backcountry for redfish, speckled trout, snook, and black drum, or head offshore for grouper and snapper. Charters launch minutes away — or bring your own boat and tie up right at the dock.

🛶 Paddle the Springs

Grab the complimentary kayaks and set out across Kings Bay. Paddle toward the springs, glide over turtle grass, and keep an eye out for dolphins, otters, and birdlife. Hunter Springs Park offers an easy launch, a small swimming beach, and snorkeling; Kings Bay Park has fishing docks and a pier.
